Skin care
Just wanted to write a quick note about the skin care line I use, I absolutely love it and their philosophy. I've been using MyChelle products for about 2 years now and I hope they never go out of business, because they are fabulous and reasonable priced. Check out their website they are offering their products at a 15% discount through August15th (code is august), or you can get them at Henry's or Whole Foods. By the way, I have nothing to gain by writing about this company, I just use and love their products and what they stand for. Additionally, they are nontoxic and synthetics free.

Yadda Yadda Yacht
We spent this evening on a very large boat, a yacht to be precise. Some of the hub's clients had commissioned him to do a painting for them of a hillside view off of St. Barts with their yacht anchored down below. Whilst our clients were in San Diego we were to come aboard and present the piece and enjoy a nice dinner and sunset cruise. Unfortunately the cruise was canceled due to one of the engines not working correctly, to fix the problem the fee was a mere $18,000! Folks, I am in the wrong business. We had such a great evening dockside, however. The yacht was decadent. It actually had twice the square footage of our craftsman home. I was impressed.
I have come to realize that with two growing boys, what the hubs and I need is not a larger home, but a yacht. It was a perfect San Diego evening on the water.

The Poodium
We received the Poodium as a gift and boy is it the greatest thing since, well...the toilet! Check it out...
It is a pedestal which holds a roll of toilet paper and your magazine, book or laptop. Soooo for all of you multi-taskers wasting precious time on the throne: don't clog it, blog it!

Day 2: Going solo with the Beans
Well, today was a great day. Nothing especially grand about it, just one of those days that seems to free form it's way along and then POOF! it's night time. Went up with the beans to check out Adriana's house, several homes on their street were having garage sales. Her oldest and mine played and entertained one another for almost 2 hours without us having to intervene and tell one of them to stop hitting the other, our youngest ones both took naps, hers in the crib, mine in his stroller. He was so zonked that he slept through the guy jackhammering across the street. Adriana and I actually had a leisurely conversation. By the time we were all talked out (which is VERY hard for not one, but TWO Texans), I took the beans home and the eldest took a nap. Whew.
Break Time,
NOT
SO
FAST
... little bean woke up.

World Record: Kids in Bed by 8:45!
Well, I don't know about you folks, but at my house getting dinner on the table, kids bathed and in bed before 8:30 just doesn't happen all that often. Pre-kids the hubs and I used to have a rather night owl-ish schedule. We'd wake up at 11 a.m. and the day wouldn't end until around 3 or 4 in the morning! We used to photograph ourselves in bed with coffee in hand, and then take a picture of the clock reading 10:54 a.m., we'd send the pix to all of our 9-5 'er friends at their work email addresses just to rub in how great we had it. Well, lemme tell you something folks, PAYBACK is REAL!
Our youngest usually wakes up at 6:30 a.m.(we're not certain he is really ours!) our oldest wakes at 8:30-9:30ish (Atta Boy). Anyhow the day is full, and we look forward to that quiet time after the boys are in bed. I've been craving an earlier bedtime for them, but we just haven't been able to get structured enough to pull it off. Well tonight, the hubs is out of town and all that changed.
7 p.m. Dinner: check.
7:45 bathe kids: check,
8:00 feed the little guy: check,
8:15 read books: check
8:30 in bed: CHECK!

Date Night
This evening the hubs and I went out to the Tractor Room for dinner, sans kiddos. It was so much fun but I think we ended up eating a stick and a half of butter each. The dishes are heavy and gluttonous, however the airy watermelon-kiwi martini balanced out the pound of fat we just ate (so guilty).
Anyhow, we serendipitously ended up running into several different sets of friends from past and present and our quick dinner out turned into three and a half hours, it was like old times and it was so much fun to catch up and reminisce. When we finally got home, we stepped back into our lives as parents, and felt the kind of peace you only experience by watching your kids fast asleep.

Just Peachy
My friend Adriana gave me a huge bag of peaches from her tree. I decided to make peach ice cream last night. OH MY GOSH, it is the best ice cream, yum. Can't wait until my oldest wakes up from his nap today and we can have a cool treat on the back porch. The weather is warm today, but a nice breeze and an ice cream cone will cool us off. If you have peaches-a-plenty and want a good recipe for ice cream here is one that is kid-friendly: peach ice cream and one that is parent friendly: peach ice cream for boozers.

BTW
The Dyson works SO well, the house was cleaned yesterday and today I went over our floors and carpet with the Dyson, it picked up a whole canister worth of carpet/sand/fur you name it.
Anyhow just a little fyi. Also, took the kids swimming this evening at the grandparents, they loved it. We had a nice little Italian dinner after and called it a night. A perfect summer's evening.
Dyson
Just bought a new vacuum. A Dyson24, haven't even opened the package, hope it lives up to all of the hype. After reading countless reviews I decided to get this one because it sucked and could be stored in our small house. The reviews that I read were usually at polar opposites; either people raved about them or people dissed them. I haven't opened the box yet, so I will keep you updated.
